There has been a lot going on here at Baltimore Birth Services over the last year. In the fall of 2016 I began to work as a birth assistant for a local home birth midwife. As of January 2017 I have enrolled in a midwifery program at the National College of Midwifery and began apprenticing under Dianne from Sacred Journey Birthing Services. Starting in January 2018 I will be entering the final phase of my apprenticeship before graduating and preparing to take my certifying exam. I will continue to support a limited number of doula clients as my focus shifts to home birth midwifery.
As a doula, I support families in all birth settings- hospital, birth center, and home. Doulas provide physical and emotional support to mothers and their families, they do not perform clinical tasks or make medical decisions. As an apprenticing midwife, I support women birthing in the comfort of their own home, providing holistic, family-centered maternity care. During the final stage of my midwifery apprenticeship I will be acting as the primary midwife, under the supervision and guidance of my preceptor, Dianne. I will be leading prenatal and postpartum visits, as well as caring for and assisting women and parents to catch their baby during their birth.
I am very excited to share this journey with you! I invite those who have considered home birth or my doula care to inquire about working with myself and Dianne. We would be happy to meet for a free individual consult to answer any questions regarding our home birth care. You can also catch us at one of the Meet the Midwife meetings!
