Rebozo Connection: The Gena Kirby Method

This spring I will be hosting a workshop on rebozo use for pregnancy and childbirth, lead by Certified Rebozo Connection: The Gena Kirby Method Instructor, Bridgette Becker. Bridgette has been a Massage Therapist since 2006, and a Mother and Doula since 2011. She is also a Placenta Alchemist (2012), Hypnobirthing Certified Infant Massage Instructor (2013), Reiki Master (2014),Certified Rebozo Connection: The Gena Kirby Method Instructor (2014) and Dad Certified through Joe Valley (2014). Her goal is to encourage people to be their best, by realizing their full potential in the most natural and healthy manner possible.

What is a Rebozo?

The rebozo is a miraculous piece of fabric, much like a scarf, handmade and woven with love.
The rebozo is a traditional Mexican shawl that is long enough to wrap around a woman’s body (about 4-5 feet).
The rebozo is a multifunction tool for labor, used to assist the mother into various positions and for relaxation.
The rebozo acts like an extension of the labor partner’s arms.
The rebozo allows the partner to help support the laboring mother’s weight so she doesn’t have to.
The rebozo allows the laboring couple to truly connect by allowing for freedom of movement.
The rebozo lets the mother and her partner both feel supported and grounded.
The rebozo can help to ensure the mother is in the right position.
Rebozos have been used for comfort and connection during childbirth for centuries.

More about the Rebozo Workshop:

This course covers the use of rebozo for pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and beyond, bringing partners together during labor and facilitating the one of a kind magical connection that can only occur during birth. This 6 hour workshop includes a bonus section on Patrick Houser’s info for Fathers to Be, Joe Valley’s Non-Violent Communication Methods, and The Matrona’s  holistic stages of labor. Doulas, Midwives, Doctors, Nurses and Partners will spend a day looking at birth in a new light. Participants of this workshop acquire for 6 CEUs through ICEA (DONA accepted), a Rebozo Certified Badge for your website, Certificate of Completion, access to an exclusive online group of other rebozo students and discounts on rebozos!

What the Rebozo Workshop is NOT:

This class is not about just teaching techniques. This class is about sharing knowledge about how to use this ancient technology to provide strength comfort and relaxation to the laboring woman and her partner.
This class is not about turning babies. Mother’s bodies and their babies KNOW how to be born when they are made to feel relaxed and safe this primal knowledge comes easily. The rebozo is there to provide the safety and support necessary to allow for this innate knowledge to show itself. Our students don’t teach how to move a baby. Rather we share how to get mom realized enough to allow for the babe in Delta to find his or her own way in their own time.

The workshop will be held at my home in Towson, MD on Saturday May16, 2015.
Tickets cost 100$ for birth professionals, 65$ for birthing couples.
